Founded in 2018, LEGO Ventures is the venture capital arm of the LEGO Group, focusing on the future of learning, creativity, and play. The LEGO Ventures Incubation Studio is a corporate startup and incubation studio that builds businesses centered around learning and play beyond the LEGO® brick. Your Role
We are looking for Founders in Residence to lead new venture opportunities that have been initially validated by the Incubation Studio and take them to market. As Founder in Residence, you will be employed on a 9-month contract and lead the build and launch of a new venture opportunity to demonstrate product-market fit. Throughout the 9-month build phase, you will receive funding and operational support from the LEGO Ventures Incubation Studio and our network of experts. Upon having demonstrated initial product-market fit, there is a possibility to become the co-founder of a new venture; thus, strong commercial and communication abilities are critical for this role.
Your Responsibilities
- Executing the successful build and launch of a new venture opportunity
- Setting a clear vision for the business (including both commercial and product direction)
- Identifying and attracting the right team to execute the vision and bring the venture opportunity to market
- Ensuring a structured and data-informed path towards Product Market Fit
- Balancing short-term deliverables against the long-term goals
- Managing the allocated budget
What do we mean by Supplementary Education?
We are currently focusing on exploring new venture opportunities within the space of Supplementary Education. This means a focus on at-home, extracurricular enrichment, or after-school learning of 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills. True to the LEGO Idea and our philosophy, all learning, and supplementary education should be playful, meaning play and learning should be integrated together We are especially interested in new venture opportunities that focus on the role of the parent as parents are becoming more involved in supporting children’s learning.
Skills & Attributes
Our ideal candidate is a proven entrepreneurial leader who can balance the competing demands of testing, learning, and building a business and team from scratch while also bringing key stakeholders / executives along on the journey.
Additionally:
- A proven track record of taking ideas all the way from concept to product launch through to market traction
- Hands-on experience in working with customer and product development
- Past success finding product-market fit through user testing
- Experience with recruiting and retaining a hard-working, dedicated team
- Data- driven approach to decision making
- A curious and creative mind, eager to understand what makes people tick, as well as the ability to reconcile this understanding with commercial feasibility
- Strong resilience and interpersonal skills to succeed in a world with ups and downs, while at the same time maintaining communication and calm to stakeholders
- Passion for and/or experience from kids, parents, family, learning, and play categories
- Experience as a founder or early-stage start-up employee
Practicalities
Role Type:
9-month contract with the possibility of transferring into co-founder of a newly established venture
Location:
Please note that it is required to relocate to Billund or Copenhagen, Denmark.
Process:

Compensation:
A dedicated budget to bring the idea to market will be assigned to the founder which will also cover founder salary.
